Bridgeview, IL, "A Well-Balanced Community," is located about 13 miles from downtown Chicago and 11 miles from First Peek Ultrasound, in Oak Park, IL, and it takes about 25 minutes to drive from Bridgeview to Oak Park. As of the now-outdated 2000 census, the village population was 15,335. Bridgeview is well loved by its residents for its central location between downtown Chicago, Midway Airport, and First Peek Ultrasound.

Local residents chose the name for Bridgeview, IL, for the view of the area from the Harlem Avenue bridge, 79th Avenue bridge and 87th Avenue bridge. The name Bridgeview was chosen by one vote over Oketo. Oketo is still the name of a street in the village today. The nickname of "A Well Balanced Community" refers to the village's zoning, which is divided equally into residential, commercial, and industrial areas.

Bridgeview has recently become the home of the Chicago Fire professional Major League Soccer team, whose stadium was funded by the village of Bridgeview and is operated by the Fire's parent company, Anschutz Entertainment Group. Toyota Park is home to not only the Chicago Fire, but also the Fire Reserves, Chicago Fire Premier, and the Chicago Red Stars of Women's Professional Soccer as well. Toyota Park hosted the 2006 Major League Soccer All-Star Game, and continues to be a premier venue for important concerts (and has even hosted a circus).

Today, Bridgeview, particularly Harlem Avenue, is a major center of Arab American cultural life. Numerous self-owned businesses create an atmosphere similar to that of many Arab diaspora communities across the world. Some businesses include: ethnic grocery stores, hookah lounges, United Trust Arab Bank, Middle Eastern sweets, mosques, and Christian Arab churches. The restaurant above, picture courtesy of Sky Full of Bacon, a Chicago restaurant review blog, is one of many Arab restaurants located on Harlem Ave.
