Directions from Davenport
We are located just 15 minutes from downtown Chicago and 3 hours east of Davenport, IA.

When coming from Davenport, just take Brady St/US-61 north until you get to I-80E.
Take I-80E for 15 miles.
Merge onto I-88E and continue east on I-88 for 141 miles.
Merge onto 290E and continue east on 290 for another 4 or 5 miles.
Take the Harlem exit, exit number 21B. This exit will be on the left hand side of the highway.
Turn left on Harlem, going north, for 6 miles, until you reach Lake Street.
Make a right turn on Lake Street.
You will see the Shaker Building on your left-hand side. It is a large building with green awnings, located on Marion and Lake Street.

Note: Take the route using I-88E, not the route taking I-80E and 55N, in order to avoid the heavy traffic on 55N and Harlem Ave.

For Parking
Continue down Lake Street until you see the first traffic light, which is Marion Ave.
Make a left turn on Marion Ave (between Barbara's Bookstore and Chase Bank) and make a left turn into the Holly Court parking lot immediately behind the building.
Go past the metered parking spaces in the parking lot and enter the parking structure.
Parking is free for the first hour in this parking structure. Parking is only $1 for the hour after that.
You can enter the building from the back entrance.

Davenport, IA, is one of the five cities that make up the Quad Cities. The other cities include Rock Island, IL, Moline, IL, East Moline, IL, and Bettendorf, IA. The Quad Cities as a whole has a total population of approximately 377,000 people. The term Quad Cities is now technically a misnomer, as the area now includes five cities, each of which has a population of over 20,000, and many other contiguous or nearby communities. The first bridge to span the Mississippi River was a railroad bridge from Rock Island to Arsenal Island to Davenport, IA. Among many other things, Davenport has the unique honor of being the location where the first successful appendectomy (surgical removal of the appendix) was performed. This operation was performed in 1885, by Dr. William West Grant, on a 22-year-old woman named Mary Gartside.
