About Us

I found out I was pregnant the day after my husband, Dr. Beezer Moolji, left for Iraq helping out the soldiers and children as a doctor. He would be gone for one year and would miss my entire pregnancy. I got a gift certificate for a 3D ultrasound, and this was just the thing to share my pregnancy and the joy of having a child with my husband stationed in Iraq.

We talked about how great it would be if other families could experience this same joy here around where we lived and at an affordable price. These conversations soon developed into dreams and these dreams into plans.

About a year after my son Sabiq was born, we saw our first customer at First Peek Ultrasound on September 5, 2008. Now, in 2011, our customers are returning to us for their second baby.

First Peek Ultrasound is a small business that is locally-owned, family-owned, and "customer-owned."

We are locally owned in the sense that we live just a few minutes away from the ultrasound studio in Oak Park, IL. Some of our customers see me there, making sure everything is running smoothly. What this means to you is that we are readily available for any questions or concerns you may have. You won't have to call some corporate office in Texas to speak to someone regarding your 3D ultrasound experience. Many of our customers are surprised when they ask us a question and they get a response from the owner who is willing to meet with them and discuss whatever issue they may have. We have had lunch with some of our customers, and we keep in touch with many of them via Facebook. Also, our location in Oak Park is our only location - when you call us, you won't have to "press 1 for the Chicagoland office" - and so we are 100% focused on our customers here, rather than being divided between two or more locations across the United States.

We are family-owned, in the sense that the business is independently owned by us and us alone. We are not part of a franchise or conglomerate. What this means to you is that the running of our business is not focused on maximizing revenue for some third party or on adhering to the demands of an out-of-touch board of directors. If there is a problem or mistake, we can quickly rectify it and correct course. Also, by not having to pay hefty franchise fees and dues every month, we can keep our prices low.

Finally, we are "customer-owned." This is a term we came up with ourselves to emphasize our focus on our customers, whether you're just finding out you're pregnant or can't wait for your child to be born already. We have taken great care to make sure that we provide services living up to the motto, "You're pregnant. Enjoy it!"

We know that pregnancy is not simply a transition to motherhood, to be endured and suffered through, but a beautiful stage in your life to be enjoyed and remembered. Our ultrasound technicians are certified and ARDMS-registered. Although certification is only required for medical diagnostic ultrasound and not required for 3D ultrasounds in the state of Illinois, we have gone above and beyond by hiring and training only certified ARDMS-registered ultrasound technicians, so you can rest assured that your 3D ultrasound session is performed with the same care and skill as you would expect in your doctor's office, but without that sterile smell.

Our medical director, Dr. Beezer Moolji, is here to ensure the safety and well-being of our customers, who we define as not only the pregnant women who come to us and their families, but also the babies, because the love and bonding that comes from seeing your 3D ultrasound benefit both the mother and the baby, and we know that the well-being of your baby is of utmost importance. Also, our medical director ensures that there is continuity of care between our customers and their ob/gyn physicians and midwives and promotes communication to the medical community.

Our ultrasound machine and our 3D ultrasound services adhere to all FDA limits and regulations. As we do not provide medical or diagnostic ultrasounds, we do not require a prescription or doctor's note, nor do we bill your insurance. However, for the safety and well-being of our customers, we do insist that you are receiving prenatal care and have an ob/gyn physician or midwife prior to receiving any 3D ultrasound service from us.
