| Description | Having a baby is a normal part of life and has been happening since life began. However, it is
always a monumental occasion to the mother who is having the baby. Although many mothers look forward to it, there can
be some anxiety and even fear surrounding the happy occasion. There are many feelings and emotions that go on during the day of labor.
But to be frank, pain is often a big part of that day. There are many solutions to pain relief that can be provided in a hospital setting. Now, at First Peek Ultrasound, we can provide an additional way of coping with labor. Massage therapy, in one form or another, has been used to help with labor pain throughout history. Some mothers may not want a massage therapist or doula in their room and may only want close friends, family, or even just the Dad. This is why we are offering a labor massage instruction course for both the Mom (yes, that's you now!) and the Dad to participate in. Our certified massage therapist and instructor can guide you and the Dad on the exact steps of distractive massage therapy to ease the pain of labor. This proven technique decreases pain, distress, and discomfort before and during labor. Distractive massage therapy, also called distractive pain therapy, has been used in chiropracty, on children receiving chemotherapy and painful medical procedures, and to help labor pain. This therapy is meant to be used in combination with all other pain treatments available rather than as an alternative. Also, if you have a medical contraindication to an epidural or if you have moral, ethical, or religious objections to an epidural or medical forms of pain relief, then distractive massage therapy will be an essential part of your natural non-medical arsenal of pain relief for childbirth. Our massage therapist is certified and specifically trained in prenatal and perinatal massage. Contact 708-870-0808 for more information. This service is for pregnant women only and their partners. You may be of any gestational age. Great for first-time moms! |
